The University Gym

Students in The University of Iceland can buy a one year gym membership for only a fraction of what it costs in other places.

University Student Dance Group

The Student Dance Group is a dancing club at the University of Iceland. Every week there are various dance classes, both for individuals and pairs. The club also tries to meet outside of regular dance classes to dance and have fun together.

The club also hosts regular dancing classes in exchange for a low fee for students. The club has a website, a Facebook page and instagram where they regularly post information about their classes and activities.

University Student Theatre

If you like performance art, self expression or arts of any kind The Student Theatre might be a group worth checking out. Every semester the group puts on a show entirely organized by students. University Student Choir

There are currently two choirs made up of students from the University of Iceland. The first is only for female students and auditions are held twice a year. For more information contact kvennakor@hi.is. The second one is the University Choir, founded in 1972, which performs regularly throughout the school year. For more information go to www.kor.hi.is.

Hugrún, a mental health education programme

Hugrún, an organization for mental health education, was established in the spring of 2016 by students in nursing, medicine and psychology at the University of Iceland. Today, many students from the University of Reykjavik and the University of Akureyri also participate in the activities of the organization The aim of the organization is to educate young people about mental health, mental disorders and recourses, as well as to increase social awareness.

Hugrún’s president is Karen Geirsdóttir.

Q-Queer Student Association

The Queer Student Association was founded on January 25th 1999 after repeated regular meetings about the situation of homosexuality at the University of Iceland. Members were quickly over 150. Through the years the association has been more radical than other queer movements and thus driven queer politics in Iceland in many ways. It was in the forefront with accepting both bisexual and trans people into the association, and was the first to use the Icelandic term „hinsegin“ (lit. different, translated as queer) in its formal name to emphasize that it fought for the rights of all queer people. This happened in the year 2008 when the associations name was changed to Q – félag hinsegin stúdenta // Q – Queer Student Association.

Alpha Omega

Alpha Omega is a Christian Student Organization at University of Iceland.  The president of the organization is Rebecca Rose.

The Feminist Union at Háskóli Íslands

The Feminist Union at HÍ an an organization for feminists at the University of Iceland who want to take part in the equal rights battles. The president is Íris Björk Ágústsdóttir and you can contact them at feministarhi@hi.is.

Réttvís

Réttvís is an association of law students and newly graduated lawyers with the aim of disseminating knowledge about legal issues.

Team Spark

Team SPARK develops, designs and manufactures a electrical race cars to compete in the Formula Student competition every year on behalf of the University of Iceland. The project manager of Team SPARK is Sigurður P. Fjalarsson Hagalín.

Christian Student Fellowship (CSF)

We are a group of students who seek to mature and grow together as disciples of Christ. We meet once a week for fun, fellowship, Bible study, and free pizza! Everyone is welcome.

BEST Reykjavík

The association is an Icelandic subsidiary of the European association BEST (Board of European Students of Technology). The purpose of the association is to develop and host events that broaden the horizons of European technical students, introduce them to European culture and build skills for working in the international knowledge community.

Public Health Association of Medical Students

The Public Health Association of Medical Students is an independent partner of the Student Association of Medical Students (FL).

The role of the association is to promote interest and knowledge of public health and related issues. It oversees the Sjálfselsk project, which has the role of promoting the mental health of medical students.

Fixed activities of the association are e.g. Bangsaspítalinn (The Teddy bear hospital), educational evenings and collaboration with similar associations in other countries.
